Trici Venola -
The Woman Who Spent a
Lifetime Drawing Istanbul

A City in Sketchbooks

Trici Venola moved from Los Angeles to Istanbul decades ago because she felt compelled to draw the city. What began as curiosity became long-term documentation.

For more than twenty years, she has sketched neighbourhoods, shopkeepers, and street scenes that rarely enter official narratives. Her work records change as it unfolds.

We spent an evening with her tracing the stories behind her drawings - moments of daily life most visitors pass without noticing.
